The First and Last

Alright, this is my first post in a long time but it is also my last post on this site.  Since the majority of the 5 people who read this are people I regularly talk to on the phone I have decided that there is no need for me to further maintain this site.  I apologize to those of you who check this space for updates on our life in California.  I guess you'll have to email us now.  Until next time.

Brian Regan

We're off to see our favorite comedian Brian Regan tonight in Anaheim.  Should be hilarious.  Check out his website for clips of his material. www.brianregan.com

The future of the Church

In a few weeks I'm meeting with the director of the Doctoral of Ministry program here at Fuller concerning the present situation the Church finds herself in and what the future might hold for her, particularly in America.  So to help me formulate some thoughts I thought I'd ask what you think.  What do you perceive to be the major issues of the church in America today and what might the future of the Church in America look like?  You can reply here on the blog or send me an email.  Thanks for your input!

Reverse Trick or Treat

Tonight Taylor and I are going reverse Trick-or-Treating.  It's a little idea we thought of that has probably been done before, but we just wanted to participate in the festivities in our own unique way.  Instead of going out, knocking on doors, and getting candy for ourselves we're going out, knocking on our friends' doors, and GIVING candy away (actually, we're giving away cupcakes-see photo).  Happy Halloween!

Getting old

In contrast to my last post about Jane and her "never being too old" to do what she likes, I am feeling too old to do what I like.  The reason why I'm feeling old is because on Saturday I played flag football for 60 minutes and now it's four days later and I'm still stiff and sore.  My right hamstring feels strained; my ribs feel bruised; my left foot is sore due to plantar fascitis; and the middle finger of my right hand is swollen to twice its normal size.  What's happening to me?  Is this the same body that ran a marathon six months ago?  I guess I'm just getting old.  Hopefully I'll be recovered enough for another round of flag football this Saturday.  I'll post an injury update after the game.

Never too old

On my way back from class today I met an elderly lady named Jane who was walking in my direction.  She asked me if I was a pastor and what kind of church I belonged to, and we got to talking about God and life and church.  It was very cool.  But the best part was that Jane had to be at least 80 years old and she told me she was taking classes at Fuller "just for fun."  How cool is that?  I hope that when I'm 85 (if I make it that long) I will have a similar passion for learning new things and will even be daring enough to go to seminary...again.  Way to go Jane!
